Microscanner Dynamics and Control

Increasing the current frame rate of the scanning fiber endoscope is advantageous in that it would help reduce motion artifacts allowing for future detection and disease treatment techniques under dual modes of operation. During each image frame cycle the fiber is driven in an outward spiral pattern from its resting state at the image center to the outer fringe of the image. At this point, the fiber is quickly driven back to its initial position by braking before acquiring a subsequent frame. The purpose of this work is to shorten this braking time to achieve a higher overall frame rate without degradation in image quality along with developing a better understanding of SFE’s inherent non-linear behaviors.
